poker room article
I can remember my father calling me to
his side about two hours before lunch time, every Saturday morning. He'd
give me $20 and send me to the butchershop to get ten or twelve pounds of ground sirloin
and a couple loaves of bread. I'd return and all afternoon I would be in
charge of cooking, and we'd have what was referred to as "diesel
burgers", because we used diesel fuel to start the fire on which we cooked
them.
The men all played poker all afternoon
sometimes in the evening, while I kept them supplied with burgers that were easily a
half pound in weight, and soaked with barbeque sauce.
When I got older I began to play and my
younger brother took my place as the cook. It was a great way to kill a Saturday
afternoon, and I cherish my memories of those days.
Well, you won't get any free eats
playing at the poker rooms online today, but you can find a friendly game if you
look around. I personally like playing at the Golden Tiger poker room
because of how friendly the other players seem to be.
Now don't get me wrong, it's
still competitive poker. Nobody gets mad if you choose to raise until house rules
say you cannot raise again. That is an accepted part of the game and nobody is
faulted for capitalizing on that fact for as much as the rules allow,.... or that
they have the guts to do.
And that is where the true fun begins.
I invite everyone that reads this to give the poker rooms a try. I don't
think you'll be disappointed. Test your nerve against others just like yourself.
You'll find games that are full of the
aggressive types (these types are likely to bet on a pair of deuces when there is a 4 card
straight forming), and games with the most timid of gamblers (wouldn't raise if they
held a king high flush because "that ace is out there somewhere")......
but it has been my experience that either will have some friendly folks playing at the
table.
So don't be afraid to jump right in and
see how you stack up against others like yourself. Its fun, fair, and if
you keep to the lower end tables, it's not all that expensive.
Who knows? you might go home with
a lot more than when you started.
And if you're there, say hello to "bb1webs". That will
be me.
