Warning!
I've said this before in other articles, but it needs repeating. Please do not follow links sent to you in email when you know or think it might be spam. Once you visit a website you risk something being placed on your PC which can lead to all kinds of bad things.Recently a player at Pacific Poker had unknowingly been infected with a worm or virus that enabled a hacker to enter his poker account and he proceeded to lose $2k out of the account which left $1000. The player alertly and wisely contacted Pacific Poker and told them to freeze his account. He later tried to re-enter and was denied, as he should have been (he was checking to make sure it had been froze). Somehow, a while later, the hacker was again able to enter the account and lost the remaining $1000.
I am sorry to report that Pacific Poker has chosen not to make right the $1000. A very bad decision on their part because many portals such as my own, are now choosing to not list Pacific Poker as a safe place to gamble.
This was all due to the player's having been infected and though I cannot say how it was done, some of the more typical ways are when people visit links provided thru email spam, thru visiting free porn or free music trading sites, or they are sometimes included in a free download you may have chosen.
Just as it has always been true, it remains the same on the net. You seldom get something for free. However, you can accept free tokens of appreciation for buying something or for signing up at a casino. The difference is that the giver has already been compensated and is certainly not going to do anything to cause any trouble to those that are taking care of them .
